Friday, June 13, 2008 Website Changes A few people may have noticed that a few links have changed, specifically the calendar and webmail links. These member services are now located in the member's area (click the link at the top right), which has the same username and password as the old calendar, as posted in the station on the noticeboard. If you need access urgently (because you need to get your email) and can't remember the password, please contact the Secretary directly. Update: Email is currently broken whilst I wait for the DNS changes to propagate. Update2: Email is working again, but from a different address. Details in the member's area Update3: Appears the old address is working again. Details in member's area

Orchard Hills Cadets Annihilate Opposition Not content with their second place at the Australian National Cadet Championships last year (which made them the best Brigade-based cadet unit in the country), the Orchard Hills Cadet Team has come back even stronger to take out both the Cumberland Zone Chamionships for the third year running, and the Region East Field Day. At the Zone Field Day the cadets placed second in the portable pump event, first in the Tanker and Ladder event, and First in the Tanker Event. Also competing on the day were Llandilo Cadets, St Paul's Grammer School Cadets, and Regentville Cadets. Also on the day, Orchard Hills 1 was awarded most outstanding tanker. The truck was described as not only being the most well presented vehicle on the day, but also the most operationally ready. Well done to the guys and gals who have been looking after the old girl. O/H 1 is one of the oldest vehicles in the Cumberland fleet, but she is proving that she still has a hell of a lot of fight left in her yet. The Cadets defeated eight other teams at Region to place first overall (no positions were given for individual events). Congratulations also to Llandilo Cadets who placed third overall at region, a superb effort. Next stop Tweed Heads, where the State Championships are to be held this year. Ta-weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!!

Stephen Weyman AFSM Congratulations to Stephen Weyman who was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal in the Australia Day Honours List. (Yes I know how late this is) Steve is a life member of Orchard Hills VRFB, and one of the original founding members of the Brigade. He is currently serving as a Group Officer with Cumberland Zone RFS (in which Orchard Hills VRFB exists. Well done Steve, and here's to many more summers.
Posted by Matt Sunday, January 13, 2008 It's an Update! Just a quick note to let you know I have (finally) uploaded an assortment of images from the National Championships. You can have a look at them in the Field Day album of the Gallery. Did I mention our Cadets came in second, making them the best Brigade-based cadet unit in the country?? And a reminder to my fellow members. You too can contribute to the gallery (and the website). It's really easy, and it would give everyone a break from all my photos. Any questions drop the secretary a line, he doesn't bite (hard).
